Big B show for small screen

Madhur Tankha

The month-long festival promises a treat for Amitabh fans

A TREAT FOR FILM BUFFS: `Ab Tak Bachchan' film festival on SET MAX.

NEW DELHI: With his baritone voice, charisma and acting prowess, superstar Amitabh Bachchan has ruled the big screen for nearly three decades. Now Bachchan will come alive on the small screen on Max channel that will air a month-long roller-coaster festival of some of his finest mega-hits beginning April 30.

Titled "Ab Tak Bachchan", the unique festival of truly unforgettable films will showcase Big B as a brilliant actor, the inimitable angry young man and intensely romantic hero, besides other different genre of roles that he has portrayed on the silver screen.

Each film that will be screened from Monday to Friday has been meticulously handpicked, presenting Bachchan through his years in the film industry in his most memorable roles. Films that show the six feet two inch tall hero sharing the screen with some of the leading actresses of Hindi cinema including Jaya Bachchan, Rekha, Hema Malini, Zeenat Aman, Pravin Babi, Sridevi and the late Smita Patil.

The festival is a befitting tribute to the legendary actor who has been voted by BBC Online as the star of the millennium.

The festival will showcase some of Amitabh Bachchan's most sought after films like "Don", "Deewaar", "Silsila", "Agneepath", "Laawaris", "Muqaddar ka Sikandar", "Zanjeer", "Satte Pe Satta", "Sharaabi", "Yaarana", "Mohabbatein", "Baghban" and "Waqt -- Race Against Time" among many more.

Speaking about the new series on the channel, Max Business Head Sneha Rajani says: "The month-long special festival on Bachchan only signifies our constant effort to identify what the Indian viewers want and bringing it for them on their television screens. Max has the best and biggest library of Bachchan's movies and it will showcase them during the festival. The films will be aired at 8 p.m."
