One more arrested in foodgrains scam

HASSAN: A special team led by Hassan Deputy Superintendent of Police Rudrappa and Holenarsipur Deputy Superintendent of Police Bheemaiah arrested Honnappa Gowda, storekeeper of the Food Corporation of India Godown in Holenarsipur. He was remanded in judicial custody till May 10.

Superintendent of Police Mr. Panduranga Rane said they raided a private Godown in Hassan and seized 650 bags of rice that had the Food Corporation of India seal recently.

This rice was meant for distribution through fair price shops in Hassan district under the food for work scheme. Instead of being sent to the taluks for distribution they were sent to a private godown in Hassan. The owners were arrested 15 days ago and remanded in judicial custody.
