Labour Inspectors directed to dispose of complaints within one month Bid to boost economic development, create job opportunities

CHANDIGARH: Haryana Labour Minister Birender Singh on Wednesday directed the Labour Inspectors to register shops and commercial establishments under the Punjab Shops and Commercial Establishments Act and Rules within 15 days from the date of receipt of the complete papers.

He further said that the Labour Inspectors would dispose of the cases within two months after the date of announcement of the award for implementation and settlement under the Industrial Disputes Act, 1947, and Rules.

They have also been directed to take one month to dispose of complaints under various laws such as Payment of Wages Act, Minimum Wages Act, National and Festival Holidays Act, Payment of Gratuity Act, Payment of Bonus Act, Shop and Commercial Establishments Act, Equal Remuneration Act, Contract Labour (R and A) Act and the rules made under the respective enactments, he added. Mr. Birender Singh said the Labour Department would not only have to ensure implementation of labour laws but also create an enabling environment for enhancing productivity, competitiveness and labour welfare which would boost economic development and lead to greater opportunities for job creation. And towards this end, prevention of industrial strife would be one of the basic mandates of the Department, he asserted.
