Council repoll peaceful

Special Correspondent

Almost all 2,000 cast their vote

HYDERABAD: Repolling in 52 booths of the Local Authorities Constituencies (LAC) of the Legislative Council ended on peaceful note. Chief Electoral Officer V. Bhaskar put the polling percentage at "almost cent per cent" as, almost all the 2,000 odd voters (MPTCs, ZPTCs an ward members of civic bodies) cast their vote.

He said the counting of the votes would be taken up from 8 am on April 27. Simultaneously, the votes polled during the polling on March 17 held under the original schedule in 10 other districts, whose counting was kept in abeyance, would also be taken up.

The repoll was ordered by the Election Commission following reports on the irregularities allegedly indulged in by some Congress leaders during the original schedule.

The counting will decide the fate of candidates in 23 constituencies thus bringing the long exercise to constitute the Legislative Council to a close.
