TDP, BJP talk tough on Babli impasse

Special Correspondent

K. Yerran Naidu

HYDERABAD: The Telugu Desam Parliamentary Party (TDPP) has decided to press for suspension of the question hour in Parliament on Thursday demanding immediate halt to Babli barrage work. Briefing presspersons here on Wednesday, TDPP leader K. Yerran Naidu said it was surprising that the Congress while agreeing to stage a dharna at Mahatma Gandhi's statue in front of Parliament was not keen on stalling the proceedings.

He said he would write a letter to APCC president K. Keshav Rao to reconsider its stand.

Jana yatras from May 1

As part of its agitation against the Babli project, the BJP decided to organise `Jana chaitanya yatras' from May 1 in villages falling under the Sriramsagar Project to explain to people how Telangana would turn into a desert if the project was not halted, according to party leader K. Laxman.
