Case against Inspector ordered
Special Correspondent
CHENNAI:
The Madras High Court has directed registration of a case against a police official for his alleged high-handed behaviour with an advocate, who had gone to the SRMC Porur police station to lodge a complaint.
Justice K.N. Basha gave the direction on a petition filed by S. Balamurugan, who said that he was abused and manhandled by two persons at a browsing centre at Porur. He went and lodged a complaint with the police immediately.
He said the attitude of the Inspector Arul Santhosa Muthu changed after the accused persons talked to him over phone. Later, when he took office-bearers of the Poonamallee Bar Association to the station with him, the Inspector threatened to arrest him. Justice Basha also ordered investigation by a higher-level officer.
