Elected to world women federation

NEW DELHI: Annie Raja, general secretary of the National Federation of Indian Women (NFIW) has been elected one of the five vice-presidents of the Women International Democratic Federation (WIDF).

Marcia Campos from Brazil was elected president of the Federation at the 14th Congress of the WIDF held in Caracas, Venezuela, between April 8 and 18. The other vice-presidents are: Mayada Abbassi (Palestine); Ruth Netto (Angola); Maria (Argentina); and Skevi Kukumo (Cyprus).

The congress was attended by 445 delegates and 409 invitees from 93 countries and 146 women's organisations. The National Federation of Indian Women is a founder-member of the WIDF.
