HYDERABAD: A stray dog ran wild leaving nine persons, including four kids, injured at Kindibasthi of Chilakalaguda in the past two days. Civic officials caught and killed the dog by administering sodium pentathlon on Wednesday. Incidents of attacks by stray dogs had been on the rise for the past one month in the State capital. The fresh incident occurred on Tuesday night when the dog pounced on an eight-year-old boy, Syed Mukthar Ahmed, while he was walking on the road. He suffered wounds on his private parts and was shifted to the Gandhi hospital. Ahmed's family members tried to scare away the animal but it bit two more children, Mohd. Ariff, 5, and Satya Gouri, 6, after running into other streets of the same locality. The dog later attacked two more pedestrians passing by the locality. Locals charged that they rang up local municipal officials but none bothered to respond. On Wednesday morning, the dog turned up again injuring one more boy Sagar, 8, and three elders Pradeep, Manoj and Ramakanth in the area. "There was no other option but to kill it. Our workers caught and killed it by administering sodium pentathlon," GHMC Chief Veterinary Officer P. Venkateswar Reddy said.
