Pay revision approved

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Government has issued orders approving pay revision for the staff of Foam Mattings (India) Ltd. Minister for Coirt G. Sudhakaran said here on Wednesday that the hike would come to 20 per cent of the gross pay, which would work out to not less than Rs.1,500. Pay revision fell due in the PSU in April 2003. Interim relief was sanctioned to the employees in December 2005. Even though arrears were normally given only from the date from which the interim relief was sanctioned, in this case it would be paid from April 2003 itself taking into consideration the low pay scales in the PSU.

Daily wages hiked

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The daily wages of Laboratory Assistants of the Vocational Higher Secondary Department has been increased from Rs.140 to Rs.170. — Staff Reporter

Residents' plea

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Eenchakkal Residents' Association has petitioned the Public Works Department for removal of waste dumped in the canal by the side of the national highway bypass from Chakka to Eenchakkal. There are many unauthorised teashops and fruit stalls in this stretch of the bypass that dump waste into the canal. This has blocked the natural drainage for rainwater in the area. The stagnant water may lead to the spread of epidemics in the area, the petition noted.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Geena George, a student of the Model Technical School, Kaloor, has been declared the third rank holder for the THSLC exams held in March 2006. When the results of the examination were published Ms. George had scored 933 marks. However, on revaluation it was found that she had scored 940 marks.
