THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Acting is the art of internalising the dialogue of another person as one's own. In theatre you can experience the character in flesh and blood and but in cinema he will only be a pale shadow, popular actor and Bharat Award winner Murali has said.

He was talking to children at `Thaliru,' a summer camp for children organised by the Balasahitya Institute in the city on Wednesday.

Donning the role of a teacher, the actor patiently answered queries from children who quizzed him on various aspects of cinema and theatre.

The actor minced no words when he said that it is difficult to find an audience for theatre and parallel cinema. "People are willing to spend money only for commercial films. But you get satisfaction only when you act in good films. But for survival you have to depend on commercial films.

Murali said there were occasions when he became fed up of acting. "There were instances when I felt detested thinking about the nature of the dialogue, which I had to render as an actor," he said. According to him a good film is the craft of a director. There is no crisis in Malayalam films today, he said.
