Women held for robbery attempt

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Medical College police have arrested two itinerant women haling from Madurai for allegedly attempting to rob jewellery from the handbag of Pankajakshi, a resident of Thiruvallom on Tuesday afternoon.

Pankajakshi was travelling in a private bus when the incident occurred near Plamoodu. The women arrested are Mariamma, 32 and Kaliamma, 30.

Cheat nabbed

The police have arrested Baiju alias Alappuram, 28, a resident of Thamalam, for allegedly attempting to defraud a public sector bank based in Kunjalumood with a stolen cheque.

Found dead

Velayudhan, 75, a resident of Panathura was found dead by hanging at his brothers residence on Wednesday morning. The police have attributed family problems as the cause of his suicide.
