Melbourne: Outgoing Australian coach John Buchanan has said his greatest regret as the coach was his strained relationships with Shane Warne and Stuart MacGill. Buchanan was rarely on the same wavelength as the emotional Warne and the combustible MacGill during his eight-year stint with the team. "People are not compatible with each other all the time. They have had moments where they probably have gone in the same direction, and moments where they probably haven't," he said. "It was not necessarily due to them, or due to me. It was just the way it is. I always regret that. "I always regret that you don't always have the perfect relationship with everybody because if you don't, it's then very difficult to actually bring out the best in them. That to me is one of the roles of the coach," he was quoted as saying by The Australian. PTI
