SISCOL to expand capacity

SALEM: Southern Iron and Steel Company Limited (SISCOL), a part of the steel major Jindal South West Group (JSW), at Mecheri near here, has registered a highest ever net profit of Rs. 55.05 crore for the year ended March 31, 2007, a robust performance so far by the company.

"The EBIDTA margin had risen to 31 per cent with improved performance, higher sales realisation, volume mix and profit from sale of investments," said J. K. Tandon, Chairman of the company, while addressing the media here on Wednesday at the factory premises.

The company had repaid debt of Rs. 19.40 crore during the fourth quarterof 2006-07. Mr. Tandon said the company was taking up an ambitious project for expanding capacity from three lakh tonnes to one million tonnes annually, involving an estimated expenditure of Rs. 1,320 crore.

SISCOL Joint Managing Director, Vijay Sharma, and other senior officials were present at the briefing.
