Official held on bribery charge

Thiruvananthapuram:
P. Dileep Kumar, secretary, Kuruva panchayat, was arrested at the panchayat office on Thursday by a team of the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau (VACB) led by Deputy Superintendent of Police P. Abdul Hameed while accepting a bribe for allotting a number for a house. Moosakutty of Cherukulambu in Malappuram district had submitted an application for allotting a number for his newly constructed house.
Mr. Dileep demanded Rs.1,000 for the purpose, said a press note issued by the VACB here.
Mr. Moosakutty apprised the Vigilance Deputy Superintendent of Police of Malappuram of the matter. It was while he was handing over the marked notes given by the Dy. SP to Mr. Dileep that the arrest was made.
