The newly inducted Ministers come from varied political backgrounds


HYDERABAD: The 17 new Ministers inducted into the Cabinet come from varied political backgrounds.

The profiles of the new Ministers, a majority of them graduates, range from that of an active politician to a businessman as in the case of M. Hanumantha Rao (Mangalagiri) who is now Minister for Sarva Siksha Abhiyan. Among them, R. Changa Reddy (Nagari) and T. Jeevan Reddy (Jagtial), both from agriculture families, are five-time MLAs and served as Ministers earlier.

G. Chinna Reddy (Wanaparthi) tops them academically. He is seen as an authority on agriculture with an M. Sc (Agri), apart from Ph. D and LLB. A votary of Telangana State, he is known for his depth in understanding the farm related issues. Mr. Chinna Reddy will handle "Rural Development".

Maganti Venkateswara Rao (Denduluru) is from a political family with both his father and mother (late Ravindranath Chowdary and late Varalakshmi) having served as Ministers earlier. A first-time legislator, he has been given "Minor Irrigation".

Multi-faceted

Galla Aruna (Chandragiri) and Anam Ramanarayana Reddy (Rapur) are also from established political families. She is a writer too, focussing on social problems. Mr Reddy, a four-time legislator, is for known for his initiative to improve sports in Nellore district.

Sambani Chandrasekhar and Vanama Venkateswara Rao have been a source of strength for the Congress in Khammam district. A B.Sc graduate, Sambani served as Minister earlier, handling the portfolios of Power, Endowments and Social Welfare.

Mandali Buddha Prasad, son of late M. V. Krishna Rao, whose service during Diviseema tidal wave tragedy, is too well-known, is associated with various social works.

Kasu Krishna Reddy (Narasaraopet), a close relative of former Chief Minister late Kasu Brahmananda Reddy, served as Lok Sabha member earlier. A graduate, M. Venkataramana Rao (Kuchinapudi), is a two-time MLA and fresher to the Cabinet.

R. Damodar Reddy (Thungathurthi) and Damodar Rajanarsimha (Andole) are also known for their loyalty to Dr. Reddy. J. Rathnakar Rao (Buggaram), aged 78 has been given the Endowments portfolio while P. Subhash Chandra Bose (Ramachandr apuram) will head the Social Welfare while M. Mukesh has been given the BC Welfare .
