NEW DELHI: The Delhi police has claimed to have solved the mystery behind the brutal murder of an elderly couple and their teenage son at Garhi in South Delhi this past week with the arrest of two young men at Old Delhi railway station. The bodies of 60-year-old Chhote Lal Yadav and his 50-year-old wife Shanti Devi and their son Rohan alias Deepak were found in the drawing room of their third floor flat last Friday. While the bodies of the couple bore several stab wounds, the son was found strangled with a belt. According to the police, Chhote Lal allegedly had an extra-marital relationship with the wife of his friend Jitender, now prime accused in the case. Jitender allegedly bore a grudge against him and had been looking for an opportunity for revenge. On April 19 night, Jitender along with his nephew Rohit (22) and an acquaintance, Bobby Chaudhary (23), visited Chhote Lal's house and allegedly murdered the entire family. Rohit and Bobby have been arrested while Jitender, a native of Saharanpur, is absconding. Addressing a press conference, Deputy Commissioner of Police (South Delhi) Anil Shukla said: "Preliminary investigations in the case had indicated that Chhote Lal was a romantic at heart. Further probe revealed that he also had an extra-marital affair with a receptionist of Clutch Auto Limited, a Faridabad-based company where he had worked for several years before seeking voluntary retirement a couple of years ago. After retirement he opened a general store on the ground floor of his three-storey building and made an offer to the woman and his husband Jitender to stay with him and run the shop. It made Jitender suspicious and the two even had an altercation over the matter."
