Progress of CIPA evaluated

Staff Reporter

KOCHI: Deputy Director of National Crime Records Bureau P.B.R. Menon on Thursday visited police stations in the city limits to evaluate the progress of the Common Integrated Police Application (CIPA) being implemented across the country by the Union Government.

CIPA was being implemented in three phases. Ten per cent of police stations would be computerised in the first phase, 30 per cent in second phase and rest in the final phase. On completion, all the police stations would be connected to the network of NCRB.

This forms part of the effort to create a national data base, he said.

Five police stations in the first phase and 16 in the second phase are being computerised in Kochi City limits.
