Elaborate arrangements made and special buses to be operated

MADURAI: The stage is set for `The Hindu Opportunities Fair 2007' that begins at Madurai Kamaraj University here on Saturday.

Elaborate arrangements have been made at the venue both for participating companies and job aspirants expected to attend the fair in large numbers on both days — April 28 and 29 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Special enclosures and barricades have been put up in the university for the convenience of company representatives who will conduct the recruitment process and jobseekers coming from all over the State.

With online registration for this opportunities fair already crossing the 9,000-mark and a large number set to walk in with their resumes, all possible steps have been taken at the venue to give a feeling of ease to candidates.

Signboards have been erected so as to enable the candidates to locate the places where different companies will conduct the recruitment process on the sprawling campus.

The Mu. Va. Arangu, the varsity's convocation hall, wears a colourful look with the interior decoration work undertaken in tune with the requirements for this massive event.

Final year students of arts and science colleges, graduates and postgraduates besides those from other streams will have jobs on offer from companies taking part in the fair to recruit suitable hands.

Leading players from IT, ITES and BPO sectors will conduct the screening and selection tests for jobseekers, including freshers and those already employed.

The event is sponsored and presented by Cognizant Technology Solutions in association with Verizon Data Services.

And the fair comes to Madurai city in partnership with Madurai Kamaraj University. In view of an anticipated large turnout, the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC) will ply special buses on Saturday and Sunday (morning and evening) from different places in the city to the university campus at Nagamalai Pudukottai.

Special buses will be operated between 8 a.m. and 11 a.m. from Periyar Bus Stand, Mattuthavani Integrated Bus Stand and Arapalayam Bus Stand.

Return buses will be there between 4.p.m and 6.p.m form the university to the city for the convenience of participants. More buses will be pressed into service depending on the demand.
