Technical workshop gets under way

KOZHIKODE: District panchayat president K.P. Kunhahammedkutty inaugurated `Una Voce 07,' two-day national-level technical workshop organised by the All-Kerala Engineering Students' Association (Technos), in association with the union of Government Engineering College (GEC), Kozhikode, at the GEC on Friday.

College Principal Z.A. Zoya presided.

Association chairman Rajesh Kumar K.K, staff adviser Sajeev G.P and college union chairman K. Ajeesh were among those who spoke.

Jilesh M.P, professor, Government Engineering College, Kannur, talked on `Free and open source software' on Friday.

The technical workshop will have seminars, academic discussions and interactive sessions.

N. Narayanamurthy, scientist, Indian Space Research Organisation, who was the mission director of PSLV C7 that enabled India to become the fifth country in the world to perform the Space Shuttle Recovery Experiment (SRE), will also address the workshop.

Mr. Narayanamurthy was also the mission director of PSLV C8, which launched the Italian astronomical satellite `Agile' on April 23.

Other sessions will be led by Anwar Sadath, manager, Kerala State IT Mission.

The district conference of Technos will be held at the GEC,in Kozhikode on Sunday.
