Chennai: The JK Tyre Rotax Max Karting Challenge 2007 will begin this weekend, for a five-round championship season. Organised by Meco Motorsports, the event will have karts equipped with 2-stroke Rotax Max kart engines. "The championship gives an opportunity for the entrants to own or lease their own kart and engine, and run their own team or join a professional karting team. This enables them to learn the set-up of their kart and tune the engine," said Akbar Ebrahim of Meco Motorsports, at a press conference recently. The event will take place in the Mini Max, Junior Max and Senior Max categories. Coimbatore will host three races, while Kolhapur will host two. The first round of Asian event will begin in Malaysia on May 13, after which Kolhapur will host the second race of the Asian Championship. Sports Reporter
