HUBLI: The State Government has upheld the decision of the Hubli-Dharwad Police Commissionerate to arrest "bootlegger" Sadanand Vittalsa Baddi under the Goonda (Prevention) Act. In an order issued on April 25, the Government termed the decision to arrest Baddi and send him to Gulbarga prison as right. In the wake of his alleged involvement in several cases of manufacture and transport of illicit liquor in the last four years, Police Commissioner Narayan Nadamani had ordered for the arrest of Baddi under the provisions of the Goonda (Prevention) Act on April 20. There nine cases booked against Baddi in various police stations of the twin cities and during raids on his dens, the police had recovered illicit liquor and other goods worth more than one crore rupees in the last for years.
Recovered
The Hubli Police have arrested two persons on charges of burglary and recovered from them electronic goods, including mobile phone handsets worth Rs. 17,500. The names of the arrested have been given as Umesh Ningapa Mudaguri and Arjun Ramappa Kelagade, residents of Kurubara Oni in Sainager near Unakal in Hubli. A case has been registered in Vidyanagar Police Station.
Arrested
The Hubli Police have arrested one person and recovered stolen cash of Rs. 10,000 from him. The name of the arrested has been given Vijay Raju Banasude of Ramnagar near Dharwad.
