Six bronze for India

NEW DELHI: India ended its campaign at the Asian weightlifting championship with six bronze medals as the lone male lifter, Sarvajeet Singh, failed to get anywhere near the podium at the Chinese city of Taian in Shandong Province.

In the men's plus 105kg, Sarvjeet lifted a total of 364kg, 159 in snatch and 205 in jerk to finish a poor eighth.

All of India's medals came from the women's section with Renu Bala, Soma Rani and Geeta Rani winning two each.

China's Sun Haibo won the gold medal with a total lift of 431kg, though he had to concede the gold in jerk to Qatari Jaber Saeed Salem.
