Madikeri: Minister for Science and Technology and Kodagu district in-charge Ramachandra Gowda on Friday said that Deputy Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa would assume charge as Chief Minister on October 3. Speaking to presspersons at Biligeri, near here, on the occasion of the re-consecration of the Sri Ardhanareeshwara temple, Mr. Gowda said there was no confusion among the coalition partners on the issue of who would be the next Chief Minister. He accused the Congress of trying to create a divide between the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Janata Dal (Secular), saying that the parties were at loggerheads. The Minister endorsed the views expressed by the former Prime Minister, H.D. Deve Gowda that the BJP should not cross the "Lakshmana Rekha." The Minister lashed out at the former Deputy Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, who had accused the coalition of failing to work for the welfare of the people of the State. Her said the Vikasa Yatra was taken out with a view to apprise the people of the State of the significant achievements of the BJP-JD (S) Government. On the drinking water shortage in the district, the Minister said the problem existed throughout the State. The Government was according priority to tackle the drinking water problems in areas where flouride content had been found. Madikeri MLA K.G. Bopaiah said the Rs. 7-crore "Kundamestri" project, near here, would be implemented and it would come up before the Cabinet for approval soon. The irrigation department had already issued a no-objection certificate for it.
Re-consecration
Earlier, Mr. Ramachandra Gowda, who took part in the puja relating to the Sri Ardhanareeshwara temple, recounted that Hinduism was the most scientific religion in the world. The religion stood not just for the people who followed Hindu culture, but for the entire humanity, he said. Replying to a question on when the renovations of the Bhagamandala and Talacauvery would be complete, he said it could take some more time. Mr. Bopaiah stated that renovations of the "Brahma Kundike" at Talacauvery and the pond facing it would be completed by May 16. A sum of Rs. 17.5 crore had been released to complete the works.
