HYDERABAD: BJP national secretary N. Indrasena Reddy and nine other leaders whose indefinite fast entered fifth day on Friday were forcibly shifted from the hunger-strike camp to NIMS after their condition deteriorated. However, Mr. Reddy resisted attempts by doctors to feed him intravenously and continued the fast.

Amidst slogans like "Babli roko, Telangana bachao" and "Indranna thum sangharsh karo hum tumhare saath hai" by the party activists, policemen bodily lifted the fasting leaders and took them in waiting ambulances to NIMS.

Train detained

Addressing party functionaries before being evicted by the police, Mr. Reddy criticised the Government for claiming the Supreme Court's interim directive on the project as a victory and accused it of deceiving the people of Telangana yet again. Earlier, several BJP leaders, including Bandaru Dattatreya, State president, B. Bal Reddy, K. Laxman, Prem Singh Rathore and T. Vijayalakshmi were arrested when they detained the Delhi-bound AP Express for more than an hour at Secunderabad railway station to protest against the construction of the barrage across the Godavari by Maharashtra.

`Spell out stand'

Addressing a press conference, Mr. Dattatreya condemned the forcible shifting of Mr. Reddy and other leaders to NIMS. He wanted the Government to spell out the steps being taken to ensure implementation of the apex court's directive in toto by Maharashtra.
