This Day That Age
Mr. T.S. Pattabiraman, M.P., and member of the AIR's Programme Advisory Committee, said in Tiruchengode on April 26 that plans had been finalised by All India Radio for giving the Indian listener entertainment throughout the day. At present the working hours of most of the AIR stations were from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m., 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., and 5.30 p.m. to 10.30 or 11 p.m., leaving a wide gap between each session. To avoid this, a special plan would be evolved within three months to make the stations work in such a way that the listener could tune in at any time of the day to some Indian station. The major portion of the intervening time would be taken up for broadcasting light music and film music. This would counteract the influence of foreign stations on the Indian public.
