HYDERABAD: The State Cabinet on Friday cleared a proposal of the Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh (SAAP) to build a 15-storey Sports Hostel at Gachibowli for the forthcoming World Military Games.

Costing nearly Rs. 72 crores, the hostel will accommodate 750 of the 2,000 sportspersons expected to participate in the prestigious Games being held here in 15 disciplines from October 14 to 21 this year.

The remaining participants will be provided accommodation in the existing Games Village nearby. The SAAP will get a loan of Rs 48 crores from Punjab National Bank for the purpose.

    Plot for Genpact

The Cabinet also decided to allot 50 acres of land at Jawahar Nagar near Hyderabad to Genpact of the General Electric Company for its expansion project for a price of Rs. 50 lakhs an acre. This followed the company's assurance to invest Rs 100 crores on the project which would provide direct employment to 5,000 people.
