BANGALORE: The Dalit Sangharsha Samithi (DSS) on Friday alleged that the Government was evicting the Dalit families, who had been cultivating government land under the bagair hukum scheme for the last 15 to 20 years. Addressing presspersons in Bangalore, DSS president N. Murthy alleged that such illegal eviction of Dalit families was taking place in the name of clearing government land of encroachments. Nearly 25,000 Dalit families had been evicted so far, he said. He threatened to launch an agitation if such eviction was not stopped immediately. He demanded that the Government provide possession certificates to the Dalit beneficiaries of the bagair hukum scheme if it really had concern for them.
