Lawyers observe protest day

Kochi: The lawyers at the High Court and other subordinate courts in the State on Friday observed a protest day against the action of the Chitoor Magistrate in ordering the arrest and detention of High Court lawyer Haridas P. Nair in connection with the escape of an accused from police custody.

High Court lawyers appeared in courts wearing badges.

Meanwhile, Justice K.R. Udayabhanu stayed the criminal case against the lawyer registered at the instance of the Magistrate. The order came on a petition filed by the lawyer.
