Website report on Quattrocchi raised in House

Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI: Italian businessman and key accused in the Bofors case, Ottavio Quattrocchi, once again featured in the Lok Sabha proceedings on Saturday with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Samajwadi Party demanding a reaction from the Government on a report regarding his involvement in the assassination of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi.

The issue was raised by V.K. Malhotra (BJP) who quoted a website as stating that Mr. Quattrocchi had conspired with Liberation Tigers of Tamil Elam (LTTE) operatives in a Paris hotel. Stating that the website had cited a lot of evidence, he questioned the Government's silence on the issue. Joining him, Ramjilal Suman (Samajwadi Party) said it was a serious matter and the website had also suggested the involvement of the LTTE chief strategist Anton Balasingham in the conspiracy.
