NEW DELHI: A delegation of Delhi University Teachers' Association office-bearers met the Joint Secretary in the Union Human Resource Development Ministry, Sunil Kumar, earlier this week to discuss some "long- pending" demands of teachers like switching from Contributory Provident Fund (CPF) to General Provident Fund (GPF).
Post-retirement earning
The issue of allowing teachers an option to switch from CPF to GPF to ensure a "reasonable" post-retirement earning was raised by the delegation. "These teachers have been discriminated against because an opportunity to switch from CPF to GPF was recently provided to their counterparts at Punjab University," said DUTA president Amar Deo Sharma on Friday. Further, the delegation demanded that the University Grants Commission be directed to frame guidelines for re-employment of those teachers who have superannuated prior to March 15 this year but have not attained the age of 65, in a manner that no discrimination was done. It also demanded that enhancement of retirement age to 65 be extended to librarians as well.
