Welfare board warning

Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala Building and other Construction Workers Welfare Board has decided to give an opportunity to persons other than construction workers who managed to become members of the Board to leave on their own. An official press note said here on Saturday that they should do so during the period from June to August. They would be repaid the amount which they had remitted in the Board. A verification would be conducted after that. If any bogus members were identified, their membership would be cancelled. The payments made by such persons would not be reimbursed. The benefits being given to them would also be discontinued.

Development of CMFRI unit sought

Thiruvananthapuram: Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan has urged Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar to include the development of the CMFRI unit at Vizhijam in the Eleventh Five Year Plan. In a letter to the Union Minister, Mr. Achuthanandan, urged Mr. Pawar to direct those concerned to take over the 1.70 acres of land which the Government had provided for the development of the unit. He said the research facility available was useful to students and researchers.

KOCHI: The industrial carnival, INCA-2007, organised by the Kerala State Small Industries Association, in association with the Directorate of Industries and Commerce, Government of Kerala, began at the Marine Drive grounds here on Saturday. It will conclude on May 3. - Staff Reporter

KTDFC pays Rs.194.40 lakh

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala Transport Development Finance Corporation Limited (KTDFC) has paid Rs.196.40 lakh to the State Government, out of which Rs.134.98 lakh has been paid towards guarantee commission for the year 2006-07 and a total amount of Rs.61.42 lakh as dividend for the year 2005-06 and 2006-07. A cheque for the amount was handed over to Finance Minister Thomas Isaac by Transport Minister Mathew T. Thomas. - Staff Reporter
