HYDERABAD: Former Telugu Desam Minister from Nizamabad D. Satyanarayana, on Saturday, joined the BJP. He said he took the step hopeful that the BJP would fulfil its commitment on separate Telangana. Welcoming him, BJP State president B. Dattatreya said a number of politicians were evincing interest to join the party. They trusted that only BJP would ensure separate Telangana. The party firmly believed that statehood to the region would be possible only before the present term of Parliament expired in 2009. He based his argument on the numbers game in Parliament that favoured formation of the new State. Former Union Minister Ch. Vidyasagar Rao said the TRS made a hollow promise that Telangana would get its statehood after 2009.
