KARIMNAGAR: It was a dream come true for the tribals of these naxalite-affected villages, which are tucked away in the dense forests along the shores of the Godavari in the neighbouring Chhattisgarh State, with Government Whip D Sridhar Babu visiting their villages as well as participating in Praja Patham and `Palle nidra' (night stay) programme. The Government Whip conducted a two-day visit in these villages of Adavi Mutharam mandal, which were about 150 to 170 km away from the district headquarters on Thursday and Friday evening.
Foundation laid
Mr Sridhar Babu began his tour by laying the foundation for the ambitious `Ring Road', which was designed to connect all the interior villages of Adavi Mutharam, Mahadevpur and Kataram mandals, in Yamanpalli village of Adavi Mutharam mandal on Thursday morning. Later, he visited Pegadapalli, Nimmagudem, Kukunooorpalli and participated in Praja Patham programme. On Friday, he participated in the Praja Patham programme in Reddypalli, Borlagudem, Narsingapur and other villages. Incidentally, in the naxalite stronghold of Kukunoorpalli village, the Government Whip conducted night stay in the village and also participated in community lunch with the villagers. When the villagers complained about drinking water shortage, the Government Whip announced distribution of water through tankers during summer. The police made elaborate bandobust arrangements for the Government Whip's visit to the naxalite-affected villages by deploying additional forces. The police intensified combing for the smooth visit of the VIP.
