TEKKADI (KERALA): A five-member `independent' expert team constituted by the Tamil Nadu Government on Saturday inspected the Mullaperiyar reservoir to "make an assessment of its strength.'' . The team, led by former Director General of National Water Development Agency, R. K. Sharma, included retired senior officials. . After a day-long inspection at the Periyar dam, the Four Bay dam and the Periyar hydropower plant, Mr Sharma said various expert teams had given different opinions on the dam's strength . "The Tamil Nadu Government has constituted this team to form an independent opinion.'' The team had sought information pertaining to the dam and its strength.
Dam stable
He said that the dam was stable and added, "There is scope to strengthen it (further).''
