"Jail if Mayawati wins"

Special Correspondent

KUNDA: Food and Civil Supplies Minister and sitting MLA from Kunda, Raghuraj Pratap Singh alias Raja Bhaiyya, on Saturday said if the Samajwadi Party failed to form a government he, along with Chief Minister Mulayam Singh and SP general secretary Amar Singh, would land in jail.

In an obvious reference to the possibility of Bahujan Samaj Party leader Mayawati becoming Chief Minister after the elections, Mr. Singh pointed out that her party manifesto said all the three would be thrown into jail if the BSP came to power.

Talking to newspersons after casting his vote at Benti village, Mr. Singh, however, exuded confidence that the next Government would also be the SP's.

He was hopeful of bettering his 2002 performance in Kunda where, he said, free and fair elections were held.
