Grievances hearing

CHENNAI: The Chennai Corporation will hold a grievances hearing programme for pensioners and their families at Ripon Building on May 3 at 3 p.m. The Mayor M. Subramanian will distribute pension benefits that were long pending and accept petitions, a Corporation release said.

Brahmotsavam

The brahmotsavam of the Parthasarathy temple in Triplicane will be held from May 3 to May 9. `Garuda Sevai', `Thiruther vadam pidithal' and `Kannadai pallakku' form part of the brahmotsavam.

Kumbhabishekam

The Maha Kumbhabishekam festival of Sri Bhaktha Ganapathy temple, Shakthi Nagar, Porur, will be held on Sunday between 7.30 a.m. and 8.30 a.m.

Asthma camp

An asthma camp for children under 18 is to be organised on May 1 (World Asthma Day) by the department of Paediatrics of Sri Ramachandra Medical College, Porur, at the paediatric outpatient department.

Children with recurrent or persistent cough, respiratory difficulties or wheezing will be screened. Consultation and basic investigations will be done free of cost.

Registration: 24768121 (Ext. 8179) between 8.30 a.m. and 3.30 p.m. except Sunday, before May 1. Patients can also reach before 9 a.m. on the day and register.

Job fair at Vepery

HR 7-Career, a part of the HR 7 igroup, will organise a job fair on April 30 and May 1 at the Baynes Memorial Baptist Church School, Vepery, between 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Participants in the fair include ABN Amro, Airtel, Andro Meda, ALLSEC, Ascent Management Services, CMC Ltd., DecaTrend Tech, E-Scribe, Pentasoft and WIPRO BPO, a press release said.

Spot admission

Representatives of the British Institute of Technology and e-Commerce (BITE) College, U.K., will visit Chennai to conduct a free seminar and spot admissions on May 3, at Limra Educational Consultants, Mylapore, from 10.30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Details: www.bite.ac.uk.

Signature campaign

Nandini Voice for the Deprived, an NGO is organising a signature campaign against the beautification project of the Elliots Beach.

It proposes to collect the signatures of 10,000 citizens of Chennai and submit it to the Chennai Corporation, voicing the opposition of the citizens concerned.

Signed postcard entries saying, "We want only cleanliness in Elliots Beach and this glorious natural beach should be preserved without any artificial beautification project," can be sent to the Nandini Voice for the Deprived M-60/1, IV Cross Street, Besant Nagar, Chennai . Tel: 2491 6037.

Celestial wedding

Meenakshi Sundareswarar Thirukalyanam will be performed at the Valampuri Varasiddhi Vinayagar temple at `O' block, Ganapathy Colony, Anna Nagar (East) on Sunday at 6.40 p.m.
