BANGALORE: Three persons were injured when a bullet-proof sports utility vehicle (SUV) belonging to Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy, son of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, collided with a lorry at HSR Layout on Bangalore's IT corridor on Saturday. A police officer was among those injured in the accident that occurred around 10 a.m. when the high-end SUV heading towards the airport to pick up Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy, who was scheduled to arrive here by a 10.30 a.m. flight. Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy's personal secretary Prabhakar, Sreenivasa, a reserve police sub-inspector of Andhra Pradesh, who were in the SUV, and the driver Naryana were injured. The three were provided medical aid at a nearby hospital and were out of danger, the police said. The accident occurred at the intersection of 13th Cross and 22nd Main in Sector 1, HSR Layout, a few minutes after the SUV had left Mr. Reddy's house in Sector 4, HSR Layout, the police said. The SUV was damaged and the lorry driver fled the scene. The Adugodi traffic police have registered a case and are on the lookout for the driver. Mr. Jaganmohan Reddy reached home by another vehicle. Deputy Commissioner of Police (South-East) Soumendu Mukherjee told The Hindu that it was a clear case of an accident and ruled out foul play.
