KOZHIKODE: The Folklore Study Centre, Calicut University, is planning to organise `Nattupandal' from May 3 to 9 to popularise folklore. The centre will join hands with various cultural organisations to publicise folklore books in panchayats near Vadakara in the district. Conferences on folklore and presentation of folk songs will be held as part of the programme. The topics that will be discussed at the conferences include the development concept of folklore, folklore and democracy, politics of folklore, globalisation and folklore and freedom of people, K.U. Haridas, convener, `Nattupandal,' Folklore Study Centre, Calicut University, said. The programmes will be held at the Thiruvallur panchayat on May 3, Puthiyapp on May 4, Maniyur on May 5, Vallikkad on May 6, Kannookkara on May 7, Kalleri on May 8, and Memunda on May 9. The valedictory of the programme will be held at the Folklore Study Centre on May 10. A project to introduce folklore in schools in the form of a week-long camp has been chalked out.
