HYDERABAD : Praveen Prasad emerged champion in the AP State Open chess tournament, sponsored by Rishi Jaideep Infrastructure Ltd, with nine points at Vasavi Club here on Monday. In the final round, Praveen outwitted G. Laxman Rao to pick the winner's purse of Rs. 3000 and the trophy. Rishikumar Reddy, CMD of Rishi Jaicdeep Infrastructures, gave away the prizes.
Final placings: 1. Praveen Prasad, 2. P.V.V. Seshu, 3. K.S. Anand Reddy, 4. K. Vijay Kanth, 5. N. Dhiraj Kumar. Special prizes: Children's category: J. Melvin , J. Medwin, Manoj Sai Nath, Sai Kiran, Sai Akshay and Nagaharika Devi. Best woman player: Janaki Devi. Best veteran: Kameswara Rao.
