TIRUNELVELI: A group of students from Government Higher Secondary School, Sambavarvadakarai, submitted a petition to the Collector, G. Prakash, on Monday seeking free cycles. They said a total of 71 students of their school were not given free cycles and their enquiries with the schoolteachers and the officials of the Department of Education failed to yield a satisfactory reply. So, they submitted a petition to the Collector during the grievance day meeting. Another group of people from Venkatraayapuram under Sadayanaeri village panchayat complained that the State Government's free colour televisions had been given to many poor families and members of panchayat administration were demanding money for the same. They too submitted a petition to the Collector.
