BANGALORE: Online lottery trade was back in business on Monday following the Karnataka High Court staying the State Government notification banning all kinds of lotteries.

According to sources in the lottery business, `Lucky Jackpot,' operated by the Arunachal Pradesh Government, started the sale of lotteries from Monday morning. They had seven draws between 2 p.m. and 8 p.m.

Lucky Jackpot online lotteries are now being sold through 750 terminals in Bangalore, Mysore, Gulbarga, Dharwad and Gadag districts, the sources told The Hindu.

The Sikkim Government's Rajashree draws also commenced in Bangalore on Monday with two draws.

According to the sources, the two other online lotteries that were operating in the State before the ban, Playwin and Bestwin, are also likely to start their operations shortly.

While Bestwin is waiting for the outcome of the court hearing on May 4, Playwin is getting the terminals installed, the sources said.

The State Government banned the lotteries from April 1 after making an announcement in this regard in the annual budget.

The Government banned the lotteries following a hue and cry from various sections that lotteries, mainly online, were ruining scores of families.
