CHENNAI: Artists, both young and old, gathered at the Mahakavi Bharathi memorial house in Triplicane on Monday to express their idea of `India Today' on canvass.

They painted PSLV rockets and outline of the Indian subcontinent on the makeshift canvasses set up by Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) volunteers.

The painting festival was part of the DYFI's 8th all-India conference.

Earlier, writer T. Jayakanthan distributed prizes to students who came first in contests such as poetry recitation, oratory and dance.

He appreciated the efforts of DYFI in providing an opportunity to youngsters to take up fine arts.

Artists, including Trotsky Marudhu and Visvam, and art director JK participated in the festival.
