Call to improve use of Official Language

Staff Reporter

Implementation of the language is between 50 to 60 per cent in Medak

  • All departments asked to use Telugu training capsule
  • Compact discs distributed to all districts in the State

Sangareddy: Member of Official Language Commission Kaluva Mallaiha has asked Medak district administration to initiate steps to increase usage of Telugu.

Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, he pointed out that even though Telugu usage was satisfactory at panchayat and mandal levels, implementation at higher levels was not at all satisfactory.

Mr. Mallaiah who verified correspondence of Zilla Parishad and other district-level offices, said that the implementation of official language was around 50 to 60 per cent in the district and a lot needed to be improved. Letters written in Telugu must be replied in the same language or action should be initiated against them, he suggested. He said that the Telugu training capsule prepared by the Conmmission should be put to use by all departments especially the Revenue Department. Compact discs had been distributed to all districts of the State and employees found training kit quite helpful.

    True expression

Mr. Mallaiah said that the common man could only express his problems in his mother tongue, as it was a true expression. He cautioned the district administration that any indifference in the implementation of the language would leave Telugu a dead language.
