This Day That Age
Addressing a joint session of the Madras State Legislature on May 1 in the Assembly Chamber at the Secretariat, the Governor, Mr. A.J. John, announced that the Government proposed to constitute an Electricity Board to take over the management of all their electricity enterprises in the State in consonance with the policy laid down by Parliament. The day-to-day administration of the Electricity Department, which is being run on commercial lines, will in future be the responsibility of the Board, subject, of course, to the overall supervision and control of the Government.
