dated May 2, 1957 : Length of feature films

Feature films are inordinately long and the Government might consider, in consultation with the film industry, whether their length should be reduced, the Central Committee of Awards for Films for 1956 says in its report to the Government. It felt that the length of films entered in the awards for documentaries should be restricted to the usual length of such films, namely, not exceeding 2,000 feet. As regards the suggestion that the annual awards function should take place at different places rather than always in New Delhi, the Committee felt that this course would not be practicable.
