India ranked below Bangladesh

New Delhi: Indian team hit a new low by slipping below Bangladesh to be placed ninth in the latest Maruti Suzuki Cricket Ratings issued by ESPN-STAR Sports. Bangladesh is seventh on the list.

The four semifinalists — Australia, South Africa, Sri Lanka and New Zealand — have secured the top positions in that order.

The rankings:

Teams: 1. Australia (98 points), 2. S. Africa (92), 3. Sri Lanka (82), 4. New Zealand (73), 5. England (62), 6. West Indies (59), 7. Bangladesh (42), 8. Pakistan (40), 9. India (38), 10. Kenya (14).

Batsmen (top 5): 1. Matthew Hayden (184 points); 2. Jacques Kallis (179); 3. Ricky Ponting (176); 4. Kevin Pietersen (169); 5. A.B. de Villiers (164).

Bowlers (top 5): 1. Glenn McGrath (195 points); 2. Muttiah Muralitharan (188); 3. Nathan Bracken (181); 4. Shane Bond (177); 5. Shaun Pollock (173). — PTI
