Kausar Bi case: orders on May 3

Legal Correspondent

NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court will pass orders on May 3 on the Centre's plea for a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation into the disappearance and death of Kausar Bi, wife of Sohrabuddin Sheikh, who was killed by Gujarat police a few days prior to her killing.

A Bench of Justice Tarun Chatterjee and Justice P.K. Balasubramanyan had on April 27, after hearing Attorney General Milon K. Banerjee demanding a CBI probe into the whole incident, indicated that it would pass orders on Monday.

However, on Monday senior counsel K.T.S. Tulsi, appearing for Gujarat, submitted a sealed cover informing the court that Kausar Bi had been killed and burnt to death.

Mr. Justice Tarun Chatterjee, who received the report, told the counsel that the bench would pass appropriate orders on Tuesday.

However, on Tuesday morning he said orders would be passed at 3.45 p.m. on May 3.
