Speedy trial demanded

Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI: A non-government organisation has demanded that the trial of the accused in the Palika Bazar rape case should be held in a special court so that speedy justice is meted out to the victim.

Shobha Vijender of Sampurna, the NGO working for women empowerment, said the crime was all the more serious because it amounted to betrayal of trust and confidence between a customer and a shopkeeper.

She said no woman would like to go to Palika Bazar for shopping after such incident.
