Mirzapur (UP): Congress MP Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday called upon the youth of Uttar Pradesh to think with a new and modern outlook to transform the State into a model State. ``Sixty percent population of the State is youth, we need to think with a new and modern outlook. Then we will be able to transform the State into a modern and model State. This change could be brought by the youth power only. That is why I am here and will be with you. I will work with you for the development of the State. We have to revive the State,'' said Mr. Gandhi while addressing a public meeting at Rajgarh in Mirzapur.

Rajgarh was the last destination of Rahul's sixth leg of campaign in Uttar Pradesh where he reiterated that the people of Uttar Pradesh were developing other States, but were unable to do the same for their own State owing to the government apathy.

``The people of this State are developing other States, but are unable to do the same in Uttar Pradesh. But I don't see any problem with the people of Uttar Pradesh; the problem lies with the State government, which never thinks about the development of the State and the welfare of the people. I am here to work, I am here to change the face of Uttar Pradesh with your help, with the help of the youth of the state,'' he said.

``You all know about the state better than me, it is in a pathetic condition. You know better because you are the one who uses the road, your kids go the schools, and you know that the schools are doing no good for the future of your children. In the last 15 years, India progressed while Uttar Pradesh went backwards,'' he added.

He further said: ``You need to know about the money, which the Central Government sends to the state for you, for your development. This money belongs neither to Delhi nor to Lucknow, it is meant for you, and thus you need to take the accounts''.

The Congress MP started his third day of sixth leg of campaign with a road show in Varanasi. His motorcade travelled through Nadesar, Andhrapul, Golhatta, Pilikothi, Vishesharganj, Maidagin, Chowk, Godauliya, Madanphuta, Sonarpura, Lanka, Sundarpur, Mahburganj, Sigra and Beniabagh.

Third phase of polling will be held on May 3, during which over 1.63 crore voters will decide the fate of around 840 candidates. -- ANI
