HYDERABAD: The existing ban on transfer of Government employees, teachers and others has been temporarily lifted for a month from May 1 to 31 to facilitate request transfers on grounds like ill-health and separation from spouse. Orders allowing request transfers were issued by the Finance Department here on Tuesday. According to an estimate, teachers will be the main beneficiaries of the latest order as a majority of applications pending with the Government are from them. Finance department principal secretary P. Ramakantha Reddy, however, clarified that the detailed guidelines would be issued separatelySimilarly, separate guidelines would be issued in respect of the staff of Panchayat Raj, Commercial Taxes, Transport, Registration, Excise and Forests departments. Transfers effected after the latest orders will be subject to Go No 610 indicating that the local status of the employee would be considered strictly in relation to his native zone. In addition, it is mandatory for the employees seeking transfer to have put in minimum of two years service at a place. Departments had been asked not to retain an employee at one place for more than five years and restrict the number of transfers to 20 per cent of the staff strength in an office.
